FIFA Pro Clubs: ACL Season XIII – Final Preview

Another ACL season has come down to the wire, and after a wild ride, the final season of ACL/AVL in FIFA 16 has come to a close. A quick recap of the season so far:

  • Defending champions Never Unlucky finish in first place but get knocked out by Eclipse CF in the semifinals.
  • Most Decorated live up to their name and see themselves in another final after ousting rivals FC Serenity (Golden Eye) for revenge in the semifinals of last season.
  • True Football, Notorious FC, and Redemption FC get relegated.
  • FC Phoenix follows first place campaign last season with an ugly 12th place finish.

Now the final ACL of FIFA 16 has come down to (2) Most Decorated vs (4) Eclipse CF.

How They Got Here:

Most Decorated had quite the road to get to this point. In the regular season they only conceded 19 goals and their spread out offensive attack was too much for teams to handle. They breezed through their first round match-up against a sneaky-good Envy 4-0 then came up against FC Serenity in the semifinals. After much controversy due to someone messing with the lobbies of each team, MD managed to get through on a 4-1 aggregate. Now they play Eclipse and in both match-ups against them, they didn’t concede in a 0-0 tie, and a 2-0 win. This side is known for their overall pressure on the ball and ruthless defense. If they are on their game, no one stops them.

Eclipse on the other hand managed to get here rather quietly. In the first round they slipped by Total Futbol on a 3-1 aggregate. They, like MD, were defensively dominate and that led them on to the semifinals. Next up they played reigning champions Never Unlucky FC and it was much of the same result as their first round. It finished 3-1 aggregate, while they got a little lucky on the offensive side of it, their defense was still too much for Never Unlucky and now they march on to the finals. Although they have been under-the-radar and may be the most low key finals participant, they earned their spot in the finals and if their defense keeps on playing well, an upset is easily possible.

Players to Watch:

Draxler x10 – When you talk about the best player the VPN has to offer, Draxler has to be one of the first names to come to mind. Once again he’s in the finals and he always manages to come up big in big games. Draxler is a high-powered offensive threat that is the glue to the MD offense and he will look to add another trophy to his collection.

Vallejo x – There may not be a hotter player in these playoffs right now. He has been detrimental to the Eclipse offense and has been, in my opinion, the best player throughout this postseason. Vallejo will have 2 more games to come up clutch for Eclipse and he could go down as one of the best Mid-season free agent pick-ups.

While I could see this being an offensive explosion, I do think that these defenses have been too good for that to happen.

I think Most Decorated pulls it out 3-0. Eclipse struggles to score and Most Decorated finish off their opportunities and score a garbage goal late on when Eclipse pushes numbers forward.

Thank you all who participated in this last ACL. The community has come a long way, keep being progressive.
