FIFA Pro Clubs: AVL Season 9 – Week 3

Two conferences, two totally different types of play. The American conference has been insanely defense and the offense of the National conference has been phenomenal. It’ll be interesting to see if these trends continue in the second half of the season. Here are your Week 3 Power Rankings:

American Conference:

1.) SJ Earthquakes – Well the Earthquakes have really made some noise this season. Everest l 42 l has his squad rolling. It has been a full squad effort in terms of scoring and defensively they haven’t been the best but good enough to secure a top spot in the rankings this week. They may fall victim to my curse of 1st place teams though. Previous Week: 4

2.) Miami FC – Really made a statement on Thursday night by beating Sporting KC 3-0 and then drawing them 0-0 in the reverse fixture. Miami has the best defense in the league by only giving up 6 goals led by GK, Ikerinhoooooooo. This might be his best chance at his first title. Previous Week: 3

3.) New York City – NYC drop a couple sports but are still sitting pretty in 2nd place. Their defense have still been solid but the offense have really had a hard time finding the back of the net. Regardless, Unlucky Diggs has his squad in a great position amid the offensive struggles. Previous Week: 5

4.) Sporting KC – Sporting KC have been one of the most consistent teams even though they dropped a couple spots. Again, another team that has been good defensively and have had an extremely balanced attack. 5 players on their team have 2 goals, that’s pretty impressive. Previous Week: 2

5.) DC United – Wow, the second I give DC United all the praise in the world and put them at #1, they crumbled just like Dynamo did in the first week. The offense hasn’t been creative enough and they have let in some weak goals. They currently are on a downward spiral but have the talent to turn things around and get it all sorted out. Previous Week: 1

6.) FC Dallas – Dallas seems like they may have figured out their formation and who should play in those positions, now it’s about getting the right results. Once again they finished the week with a 2-2-2 record. At least they are consistent. Previous Week: 8

7.) LA Galaxy – Galaxy quietly had a really good week. Beat DC United twice and beat Atlanta 3-1. Galaxy have seemed to figure it out defensively even though their offense isn’t totally there yet. There is some potential in this squad that has yet to be filled. Previous Week: 9

8.) Atlanta United – Atlanta may have had good results, but are still negative in Goal Differential. That may be due to the 5-1 drubbing the got against Dynamo. Atlanta has been okay besides that one meltdown and are still a serious threat if they are playing at a high level. Previous Week: 6

9.) Minnesota United – Minnesota has been average. Decent defense with 10 goals given up, and a below-average offense with only 10 goals thus far. Minnesota will need some spectacular performances to get into playoffs. Previous Week: 7

10.) Houston Dynamo – After an absolutely embarrassing Week 1, DiLo l 19 l was able to get his squad back into the swing of things and had a good week. street1014 has started to look like an elite player again and as he goes, so does the Dynamo. Previous Week: 12

11.) Los Angeles FC – In case any of you were wondering, the Viva Reyes, Jackson x8, and IGI Dom l7l doesn’t work. Once again, they are a disappointment on offense and have only mustered 8 goals so far. Previous Week: 11

12.) Philadelphia Union – Well… They are averaging .5 goals a game, and giving up over a goal a game. You can already see how their season will finish. Previous Week: 10

1.) Chicago Fire – Air Japes is in an unreal form this season and has really been a true leader on and off the field. They may have had some fortunate results and haven’t been as good as they were in Week 1, but they are still playing at an elite level above their competition. Previous Week: 1

2.) NE Revolution – The Revolution are still at the top and they have looked like the better side in most of their games. They have the highest Goal Differential of any team in the conference. Their attack has been running through three main player but it has worked well.  Previous Week: 2

3.) Columbus Crew – Rounding out the same top 3 as the previous rankings, Columbus has really impressed me so far. Not only have they been consistent, they have had a lot of unexpected offensive success, which is the tendency for the National Conference.  Previous Week: 3

4.) Vancouver – Vancouver has struggled against the top 3 so far this season but against everyone else they are 5-3-1. If they can find some sort of success against the top 3 in the reverse fixtures, they could move their way up the standings and beat one of them out. Previous Week: 6

5.) Real Salt Lake – RSL didn’t have any big wins last week and they lost both games against Seattle. A rough week but they have the talent and depth to bounce back from it. If they can replicate their first week, they should be in good shape.  Previous Week: 5

6.) Colorado Rapids – Colorado was able to pick up 3 wins this week and have looked pretty good in doing so. The offense has seemed to have gelled more and their defense has stepped up to another level. Colorado could be a team to make a big second half run. Previous Week: 8

7.) Montreal Impact – Montreal really hasn’t played bad. They beat Chicago and New England and narrowly lost to Vancouver twice, and then Columbus as well. They have time to turn things around but they need to do it quickly. Previous Week: 5

8.) Seattle Sounders – Seattle is still hanging around and ended the week on a 3 game win streak. Seattle has looked impressive in some games but sometimes they have looked lost too. Their momentum could carry into next week’s games and they could be on the right path going forward. Previous Week: 7

9.) Portland Timbers – Portland has actually been a lot better than expected and I am happy they are proving me wrong. Even though they sit in 6th place, I’m still not buying into that just yet because most of their wins have come from the bottom of the table. Previous Week: 9

10.) NY Red Bulls – Red Bulls have picked up some steam and have had some amazing results. They beat Chicago in back to back games winning 4-0 and 2-0. If they can keep their winning ways going they could sneak into a playoff spot by the end of the week. Previous Week: 12

11.) Orlando City – Viva Suarez has been good so far, but we can’t be certain if those stats were put in correctly. Either way, they finished the week at 2-2-2 which isn’t bad, but they will need to be better than that if they are to make any sort of noise.  Previous Week: 10

12.) Toronto FC – Toronto look like they won’t be making playoffs this year and it may be a bit surprising with all the seasoned veterans on the team. Their defense has been the worst in the league and the offense hasn’t even gotten to 10 goals yet. Last place is a very realistic finish for this team. Previous Week: 11
